Pipilo Maculatus at the Garden

Sometimes when the weather is hot and birds are scarce at the local birding areas, it's time to go to the Garden and relax and cool off and enjoy the shade offered by the many mature trees throughout the San Diego Botanic Garden

Standing in the afternoon shade of a tall pine tree, enjoying the perfume of the flowers surrounding the grounds mixed with the spicy pine fragrance carried by the gentle ocean breeze, I noticed a beautiful Spotted Towhee, Pipilo Maculatus scraping the ground for insects.  Here are a few shots of this beauty as we both enjoyed the cool shade and beautiful surroundings.

 The end...
And a few of the flowers that are in bloom at the Garden.

Have a lovely week everyone.
