It's been a while since I went to the San Diego Botanic Garden in Encinitas. I couldn't ask for nicer weather for my visit. Here are
some shots of the birds that I saw on my return visit to the Garden on the Beautiful Easter Weekend of 2019.
My first bird subject was a Pacific-slope
Flycatcher.
Pacific-slope Flycatcher, Empidonax difficilis measures 5.5 inches with a wingspan of 8 inches.
A Black-headed Grosbeak makes an appearance.
Black-headed Grosbeak, Pheucticus melanocephalus measures 8.25 inches long with a wingspan of 12.5 inches.
I didn't have to take a step to spot a Western Tanager.
This beautiful male came flying in to the same area.
Western Tanager, Piranga ludoviciana measures 7.25 inches long with a wingspan of 11.5 inches.
Walked over to the lily pond. Bright and cheerful.
Another was in bloom but slightly less colorful.
Water beads on the surface of a lotus leaf.
Close-up.
Probably a female or young male Allen's Hummingbird.
Have a Happy Easter Everyone!
