It's a beautiful spring day in southern California and the
birds are active and the air is filled with chirps and tweets. The most vocal of
course are the Wrens. It's time to take the camera out to the backyard. As I
approached my garden, I spotted a hummingbird fluttering near the Tomato fountain.
It's one of my solar fountains that I have placed in the garden. I
decide to take a few shots of this little Anna's Hummingbird to see what she is
up to.
The little hummer approaches the Tomato fountain. She
spots me and appears a little cautious. Soon she is having a great time taking
a morning bath. Below are the shots of " a hummer and the tomato". As you will
see that the Anna's Hummingbird appears to really love the fountain and enjoys her morning
bath.
The beauty below appears to be a young female Allen's Hummingbird perched nearby
watching the Anna's Hummingbird at the tomato fountain. Hope to update you next on what the
House Wren has been up to. Have a super day everyone.
A friend wrote and asked me to show a photo of the whole tomato fountain. So here is a shot of how it is put together. I first placed a cabbage leaf bowl on top of an upside down yellow flower pot. Then took a little orange dessert bowl and drilled a hole for the tubing. Also drilled a hole through the red flower dish and through the tomato. Placed the tubing through all of them and put the solar pump in the little orange dessert bowl. That which I call a housing for the pump. I also had to drill a few holes at the lip of the housing to let the water flow and to accommodate the pump cable line which goes to the solar panel. Hope this helps the fans of solar water fountains to start one for your garden.
Have a super weekend everyone!
incredible!! beautiful photos and story!
