Fall Colors at the Garden

Here in Southern California, we are expecting today's temperature to be about 90 degrees at our beaches and 103 inland. Many of our flowers are still in bloom. Beautiful flowers aren't the only colorful sights at the San Diego Botanic Garden, a few shots of the Red-shouldered Hawk warning away a Red-tailed Hawk from its territory makes for an exciting sighting to start my walk in the lovely garden.

Red-shouldered Hawk showing displeasure at a Red-tailed Hawk entering the garden's airspace.  Red-shouldered Hawk, Buteo lineatus measures 17 inches with a wingspan of 40 inches.
Lots of warning calls.
A brief encounter between the Red-shouldered Hawk (top) and the Red-tailed Hawk. Red-tailed Hawk,  Buteo jamaicensis measures 19 inches long with a wingspan of 49 inches.
Red-shouldered Hawk owning the airspace at the Garden. They are known to have a strange alliance with the crows to chase away the Red-tailed Hawks.
Lots of butterflies and the yellow ones hardly ever land.

Yes, this is really a flower!

 Amazing fragrance...
Have a fun-filled weekend everyone!
