Happy Easter 2023 !

Happy Easter Everyone! This month has started out with outstanding birding in my backyard. A Bullock's Oriole showed up at my solar water fountain on my back porch. What a wonderful surprise. The Hooded Oriole is a regular visitor at my fountain. Also a very shy Cedar Waxwing came to my patio fountain but only for a few seconds. I was lucky to get a few shots. I have many more photos to share but just wanted to post these today just to wish everyone a very beautiful Easter Day!

American Robins in my Garden !

Fixing lunch, I looked out of my kitchen window as I always do, I see a bird that makes me go grab my camera and head out to my garden. An American Robin is in my garden solar water fountain and he is bathing in it ! As I walk around to get a better shot, I notice that there is not just one but two Robins visiting my garden. Here are some shots of one perched in my garden and the other is taking a bath in my fountain. Another great birding day!

Robin in my Hood !

It's been raining a lot in Southern California lately but when the sun comes out in the morning I am out in my backyard with my camera. I have a small patio table and chair set by my garden and there I can watch my new puppy play and also keep an eye out for good bird subjects. Today was one of those birding mornings that was really fantastic. I was looking for some Cedar Waxwings that flew into my neighbors' schefflera Actinophylla tree. I focused my camera on the waxwing but a bird landed on one of the branches spooking the waxwing off. As I looked at the bird that had just landed on the nearby branch, I was stunned to see it was an American Robin! It only stayed a few seconds but I managed to get a few shots. Here are a few photos of the Robin in my neighborHOOD !

Cedar Waxwings

It is great to see the flock of Cedar Waxwing in my neighborhood. They are feeding on the berries of the pepper tree. They are not easy to photograph. Anything will set them in the air and trying to get close to them for a better photo will set them flying off. Here are a few shots of these beautiful Cedar Waxwings I took yesterday. Cedar Waxwing, Bombycilla cedrorum is 7.25 inches long with a wingspan of 12 inches. Males and females look the same.
Have a super weekend everyone.
